Less than 24 hours now until the first ever night race in the Formula One calendar, and its looking to be a cracking event. Today’s qualifying showed up the difference between this new street circuit and all others. The cars were bumping and slipping their way around the track with little change in the ‘feel’ throughout the qualifying sessions. Ferrari’s Massa put in a cracking lap to go pole and made it look easy compared to the fight that the McLaren drivers had to keep their cars on the racing line. Lewis Hamilton goes 2nd on the grid and its shaping up to be a gripping race (no pun, honest !).

Amusing to hear ITV’s Steve Rider call the recent decision from Paris on Lewis Hamilton’s appeal against the stewards’ penalty in Spa as a “farce”. Still, time for Lewis to get his race-face on as tomorrow is going to be a tough one !
