Is it April 1st ? I had to check. Having told the world via an interview with the BBC that he would not return out of choice to the wheel of a Formula One car, Michael Schumacher has confirmed he will stand in for Felipe Massa at Ferrari.

The 7-times Formula One World Champion has apparently agreed to drive for the Maranello marque for as many races as required until Massa is fit enough to return.

Wonderful news – adding even more excitement to a Formula One season that has been vastly entertaining. How will the existing field fare against the German stalwart ? Not renowned for his sportsmanlike behaviour on the track, the alleged Top Gear Stig could further stir up an already volatile Grand Prix grid. Great stuff !

Glad they’re going to continue Top Gear s14 this year.

“The BBC has confirmed that filming for Series 14 has started and the series will air from November 2009.”

Michael Schumacher didn’t fill in for Felipe Massa at Ferrari, but he did return to F1 to race for Mercedes. Unfortunately, the seven-time F1 World champion has failed to impress in his second F1 career. After the 2012 season, Schumacher retired again and was replaced by Lewis Hamilton. Is Lewis able to push the team forward in 2013? With nothing much changed for the upcoming season, many expect that Mercedes will struggle. Let’s wait and see…

Very true, Romero. Schumie was reported as standing in for Felipe but a motorcycle crash put paid to that. Still, he pushed Mercedes along. Lewis really needs to step up – I just hope the car is up to it. Could be a fun season …..
